Translanguaging is an emerging concept in language education that refers to the flexible use of a person’s entire linguistic repertoire to create meaning. It also refers to a pedagogical approach that values students’ diverse language backgrounds to enhance learning and identity formation. The three studies across different regions, educational settings, and methodologies, shed light on how multilingual individuals navigate their linguistic resources and how educators use translanguaging to create more socially just classrooms.
Three MLRC community members will present their research on translanguaging at the upcoming International Symposium on Bilingualism in Spain on June 9-13, 2025:
