British School Málaga (BSM) is a vibrant and diverse international school educating over 1,000 students from EYFS to KS5. Its mission is to provide an inspiring, inclusive, and high-quality education, guided by the school’s four core values: Creativity, Aspiration, Resilience, and Empathy (CARE).

Embracing the motto “Growing Our Future Together,” BSM focuses on collaboration, innovation, and lifelong learning. This creates a dynamic environment where learners develop academic excellence alongside intercultural understanding and empathy, while families actively engage in the life of the school, supporting a strong partnership that enriches each child’s learning journey. The school’s inclusive ethos, multilingual curriculum, and dedication to its core values ensures the school prepares students to succeed in a global, interconnected world, while fostering a supportive, inspiring, and caring community.

BSM is part of the International Schools Partnership group, a network which includes over 111 schools worldwide and centers Multilingualism as one of its five core learning pillars. The school has embraced this pillar wholeheartedly and its whole school, asset-based approach nurtures students’ language learning in English, while developing proficiency in home languages such as Spanish.

BSM’s ongoing Professional Learning initiatives, including differentiated training for language educators, mainstream teachers and leadership teams in multilingualism provided by ISP, are enhanced through its engagement with the MLRC. This creates a culture of collaboration, promoting evidence-based practices across its curriculum to drive success for multilingual students.

Participation in the MLRC School Network has supported the school’s mission to embrace and support linguistic development, intercultural understanding, and academic excellence, while fostering a community of highly skilled educators dedicated to improving multilingual teaching and learning for the benefit of all students. Hosting the Research Symposium aligns with this vision, allowing educators to share insights, explore evidence-based strategies, and celebrate the impact of multilingual learning, reinforcing the school’s commitment to academic excellence, intercultural understanding, and preparing students for a global future.
