Dulwich College Suzhou (DCSZ) is a British international school located in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, China. DCSZ values the linguistic diversity of its school community and embraces multilingualism as a rich resource for learning. The College seeks to intentionally embed language development across the curriculum, empowering all teachers to integrate language and content learning through targeted professional development and a research-informed language policy. Teachers at DCSZ use translanguaging pedagogies intentionally to support students in using their whole linguistic repertoires for learning, and this is enhanced by innovations such as the community-created Charter of Language Rights and Responsibilities.

Being part of the MLRC ensures DCSZ stays up-to-date with the latest insights about best practices for multilingual learners and benefit from the professional learning materials available on the MLRC School Network Member Hub. Jacob Huckle, Head of Multilingual Learning & Language Development at DCSZ, is a proud member of the MLRC Community Council and also contributes to the MLRC Language Policy Working Group. He has partnered with the MLRC to create the MLRC School Improvement Playbook that contains activities and tools to support MLRC member schools in structured self-evaluation and reflection on their provision for multilingual learners.

As part of the MLRC School Network, DCSZ continues to enhance its commitment to inclusive and effective provision for multilingual learners through collaboration and research, with particular interests in translanguaging pedagogies, dual-language co-teaching, and language policy.
