Hong Kong Academy is a non-profit international school located in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. As an inclusive school, they truly value how children learn as well as what they learn. Teachers provide rich and engaging opportunities for every individual to discover their passions, pursue their interests, and contribute to their communities. Authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programs, their curriculum inspires curiosity, nurtures collaboration and promotes transformational experiences for every individual. 

Hong Kong Academy aims to be truly inclusive. While approximately 15% of students are enrolled in the EAL program, most students are multilingual learners. The school fosters a collaborative approach to teaching multilingual learners, where the EAL teachers collaborate daily with homeroom teams. They also have a strong newcomer EAL program for those new to English. Their school strongly believes in teaching language through content and sets high expectations for multilingual learners. In the MYP, English B is offered, and to ensure there are pathways to individual excellence that celebrates diverse learners, HKA will be offering English B at DP level. 

The MLRC advances outcomes for multilingual learners, putting research at its heart. Hong Kong Academy teaching and learning is driven by current research.

The MLRC was used to drive growth and development of teaching and learning at Hong Kong Academy. Through effective action research, practices and principles its EAL team focused on teacher collaboration and its impact on multilingual learners.
